Music Industry

There are few things more satisfying than working on branding and album artwork for fellow musicians. I’ve been fortunate enough to cultivate a steady stream of creative work within the Texas music community. Below is a selection of some of my favorite projects from clients within the music industry.

Pearl Earl

I was commissioned by Pearl Earl to design their self-titled LP’s vinyl, digital and CD artwork. I worked closely with the band from start to finish to fulfill their creative vision. Drawing heavily from the album artwork of the 70’s and 80’s glam and psychedelic movements, I started with the tooth-paste tube cursive lettering using airbrush style techniques, topping the design off with polychromatic rainbow flairs and pearlescent refractions befitting the band’s namesake. In 2023, the group reached back out for a limited re-issue design in Barbie bubble-gum pink along with a font refresh on the back cover and insert. The band was so pleased with the logo created for this album that it was carried through to their most recent release “It’s Dread”.

Dome Dwellers

As a musician and a designer, there is no better place to experiment and flex your artistic muscles than your own creative projects. Founded in 2012, Dome Dwellers has been both a musical group and an opportunity to visually express myself across album covers, apparel designs, photoshoots, show posters, set designs, and more. Below is a small cross-section of some of those designs with more Dome Dwellers related content found across in my portfolio.

It’s Just Us

(Art Direction, Design, Illustration, Animation)

For the It’s Just Us album cover, Dome Dwellers commissioned Yu Maeda to create a painting. Working closely with the artist, we agreed upon a visual concept for the cover, and I took the remainder of the project from there. I created a back cover to compliment the front, selected fonts, and created additional graphics by manipulating the painting in photoshop. Additionally, I created a vinyl insert with song lyrics and credits on one side and a new graphic synthesizing the proceeding single cover artworks interwoven into the promotional photography.

In addition to the album art design, I created a looping animation of the album cover with the help of videographer Josh Dubock. Lastly, I created a black and white line art ink drawing rendition of the album cover based on the artwork of Yu Maeda we used across apparel.

2021 Single Cover designs

In 2021 Dome Dwellers released 3 singles. Each piece was adapted from an album cover painted by the artist Yu Maeda, who I worked with closely in the conception of the design. The central focal point is architecture-inspired origami. Additionally, I animated each single cover using a combination of After Effects and stop motion animation.

Photography Direction & Editing

Over the years, I planned and directed various photoshoots for Dome Dwellers, working closely with photographer Ellie Alonzo. Our photoshoots have ranged from building environments to projecting my original designs on our bodies, to more traditional shoots with album art elements worked into the background.

Honey and Salt

Collaborating closely with Austin band Honey and Salt, I designed their self-titled LP artwork across vinyl, digital, and CD formats, including a refreshed logo reflecting their evolving sound. I further extended their visual identity with single covers and a t-shirt, ensuring consistent branding throughout their promotional materials. Throughout the project, I maintained open communication with both the band and their label, Spartan Records, to guarantee their creative vision came to life.
